Features & Benefits of a Tire-Link Floating Jetty
Tire-Link Floating Jetties are designed to be installed on boat ramps as a mooring and personnel access facility, enhancing efficiency and accessibility of the ramp.
Installation of a Tire-Link Floating Jetty offers a number of key benefits, including increased accessibility of the boat ramp facility and protection of boats from damage. It is stronger and more durable than most other pontoons and floating jetties, can be designed to fit a wide range of applications and is ecological, being made almost entirely from recycled materials.
They make boating accessible to more people, regardless of age or physical ability. Recreational boating should not be the exclusive domain of the young and fit.
- There are no steps involved with a Tire-Link Floating Jetty.
- The gradient of the deck is constant. ( same as the boat ramp, rather than variable with a pontoon/gangway, that can be quite steep at low tide)
- At high tide, all the length of a floating jetty is available for boats to secure to.
- Boats can dock as close to the waters edge as their draft will allow, making the walk to shore as short as possible. (Important for those with walking difficulties.)
- Most of the distance to be walked is on jetty that is grounded so there is no movement underfoot.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty acts as a breakwater against waves and wind, making getting in and out of a boat easier.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty’s weight, height and draft enhance the breakwater effect.
- Floating jetties are ideal to fish from.
- Easy to load and unload from at all tides due to constant height relative to the boat.
- The deck is always out of the water, thus no marine growth to cause hazards.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty is heavy, therefore not “lively” in choppy water.

Tire-link Floating Jetties protect boats from damage.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty is always the same height regardless of the tide and moves with the boat.
- Boats cannot become caught under a floating jetty or left hanging from one.
- A boat left alongside a floating jetty can ground and refloat with the tide.
- Entire structure is rubber or plastic, no solid part can contact boats, fenders are not required and boats are less likely to be damaged.
- Breakwater effect protects boats in rough weather.
They are stronger, more durable and more vandal resistant than other systems.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty has a deck height when grounded of 1100mm and a deck height when floating (freeboard) of 650mm.
- Needs no painting or maintenance
- Cannot be holed or sunk, is very vandal resistant
- Cannot wear out on the bottom due to constant grounding.
- Can be grounded on rough and uneven surfaces.
- Cannot suffer catastrophic structural failure or collapse
- Quiet, has no moving metal to metal components.
- Is extremely strong, but flexible
- Has high load carrying capability, up to 400Kg per square metre
- Due to high strength along its entire length, fewer moorings or piles are required, on shorter ramps (< 30 metres) only end anchors may be required.
Tire-Link Floating Jetties have a Flexible Design.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty can be built to any width and length as a single structure.
- A variety of deck materials can be used, the deck is not the strength of the structure
- Can be lengthened, shortened or moved
- Can be built off site and towed, thus less onsite plant, important in remote locations.
- Can be used at more than one location to accommodate seasonal factors.

They are Ecological.
- A Tire-Link Floating Jetty is made almost entirely from recycled materials, it is highly visible recycling.
